REC Recoil Guides Selection/Winding Checks Sizes

Building a split grip (no fore grip) 6'10 spinning rod on the Baston 822.5 for whacky riggin'. Looking to put the REC Recoil Single Foot Spinning Guides on this set up. Any ideas on guides size selections, or a rule of thumb for buying guides for building a rod - wasnt sure on what sizes to buy individually. I was planning buying a few of each size and going from there.

Also I am planning to use some Aluminum Winding Checks, any way to gauge the size I will need prior to obtaining a blank. Figured a caliper would help once the blanks arrives, trying to eliminate the waiting period of buying and getting the blank and then ordering the winding checks. Any tips would be great thanks guys.

May be a dumb question, but just getting started on my first build. Thanks guys!

The guides you need depend on a lot of factors including the reel and line size. It would be hard for anyone to just spit out some sizes for you. I would recommend you read the article here on the library page on the New Guide Concept. It'll give you some good ideas on what to consider.

Micro guiding it would be lighter and a bunch cheaper. I'll bet someone here has a recipe on that very popular blank.

Not sure that I like the Micro Guides yet. I am aware the Recoil Guides do not come at a cheap price but I like the overall concept of this guide. I guess it may be in my best interest to purchase a variety of these guides and sizes and use the concept mentioned in the Library, as suggested, to determine guide sizes and placement. Access guides can be used in the next build.
