One of the stouter popping rod blanks might do the trick, but that 1-1/2 ounce requirement will be pushing the upper limit.
You might also look at some of the Hot Shot rod blanks - they would make a nice handling fast action rod for light surf use and generally have a bit more power in the butt than a popping blank. .............. Re: surf rod

I'd check the Rainshadow / Batson Enterprises blanks
SW967F Trans. Blk./M. Clr. 8'0" 2 15-25 lb. 0.635 7.0 Moderate-Fast SUR963 Matte Clear 8'0" 1 8-17 lb. .675 7.5 Moderate-Fast I've built a lot of Rainshadow blanks into very good surf / jetty / inlet rods. Re: surf rod

Seeker CSW808 is a great 8' jetty or back bay blank that can handle what you want! 7
For a 7' Seeker has a Super Seeker blank for Tarpon I don't know the ##. Can handle lite lures but has back bone!! Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
