Howdy All,

Question for all to comment on lol . I just Finished my First rod Build it is a Two piece 6' Blank that I got from Jannsnetcraft as a kit. I built it as a Spinning rod . It is a Medium light action acording to Jannsnetcraft . My question is this what wuold be a good distance for this ti cast with say 8lb. Test line with say 1/2 - 3/4 oz . weight ? I am happy with the distance I am getting so I am just wondering what you better knowledged then me think it should get with a light power cast with the above mentioned set-up .

Thank you in Advance ,
Heath

If you're happy with the distance you're getting and can reach whatever you need to reach, all else is really immaterial. But you asked, so I'd tell you that with most of my 6 foot rods in that class I can easily toss a lure beyond 100 feet. Which is really further than I can effectively fish a 6 foot rod anyway.

Howdy Tom ,

Thank you Tom for your quick response . And you are right about it being immaterial if i'm happy with it .With this being my First Rod Build I was curious to see if I was in the Ballpark so to say with anaverage cast of 104 feet with the set-up I mentioned before . And Thanks to you Tom I now have the answear again Thank you Tom.

That sounds abbout right but like Tom said as well, that's just about as far as I would want to fish a 6' spinning rod.
