I used Chromo Seal for the first time on some test wraps. I applied four coats and let the last coat dry for two days. When I applied the Flex Coat, the CP repelled the finish. Anybody else experience this? Any clues? Re: Chromo Seal repelling finish

I'm not totally up to speed on the manufacturer's instructions for using that product (4 coats?). If you're sure you followed the directions and can't find anything else amiss, I'd call the manufacturer and see what they can offer.

When chromo seal came out Andy sent me a couple of sample bottles. He told me if you use Maderia thread, which I do, to use at least 3 coats because of the silicone on the thread. I haven't had any issues. I apply one coat and let it soak in and completely dry then the next coat and so on. Re: Chromo Seal repelling finish

Bob
I have used Chromaseal a lot over the last year and have never had a problem. Multiple bottles from different batches. Thats on a personal level. I have also sold gallons of the stuff here in the UK. If there was a problem I would have been the first to hear about it. I would suggest you have contamination from somewhere. I would never say 100% to anything but I would be 99.8% sure something got on those wraps from something or somewhere. The only complaint so far is colour retention. On further investigation it was always very light threads like white or light tan over a black or dark blank. The way I do it is to apply 1 soaking coat. let dry 1 hr at 75 F. Recoat then finish after 8 hrs. Re: Chromo Seal repelling finish

Thanks guys. I'm not sure how or when the wraps would have gotten contaminated. They were inside a drying box unless they were being coated. I'll try it agian with a new brush. This was the initial use from that bottle. By the way, there wasn't a problem with color retention at all. All the finish just glob up in the middle of each wrap. When I removed the glob, the finish fish eyed and ran away from the edges. Re: Chromo Seal repelling finish

Not the topic question, but no color preserver can perform miracles and none claim to hold perfect shade when light threads are used over dark blanks. If you try to paint a black wall with white paint, you can't blame the paint for not remaining perfectly bright white. Common sense should rule the day.

Every now and then this seems to come up. I can pretty much say by 99.999% that it is not the Chromaseal. I have sold gallons and gallons of this product and if this was a common problem with the mixture it would be with everyone using it. Please email me directly and we can see what we can do to solve your situation. Thanks Scott Parsons Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
