Lamiglas XMG 105 2MT Steelhead blank

I'm looking at this blank as a long distance spinning rod for fishing off of docks and the bank. I would set it up as a spinning rod. I'm intrigued with its ability to throw 1/2 to 1 3/8 ounce lures but still be a fast action lighter rod. Just don't want to go the surf blank as that would be overkill for the fish I catch. Target fish will be stripe hybrids, catfish and bass from the bank and docks. Anyone built a rod on this blank that they could tell me how it perfroms? I know a slower action may cast further but I like faster actions rods in general. Thanks!

The Lamiglas blank you mentioned is a very nice rod, but if your looking at blank weights vs finished rod weight, I think they super imposed the two blank weights with the blank listed below it, which is their high performance steelhead model. I've noticed over the years of using Lamiglas, and other manufacturers for that matter, that some of their upper end blanks aren't necessarily lighter than the middle series blanks, and if they are, not by much. The advantage to the higher modulus blank is that it will throw or carry a bit more weight.

I have used this blank to throw mirrolures and 3\8-3\4 oz. jigs on the outer banks for specks. The xmg blanks are very high quality blanks and very light....but I'd take the upper rating with two or three grains of salt..If I can find an xmg blank to suit my build I buy it and have not been disapointed. You might look at the xmg popping rod blanks, I've used them also, mostly for trout in the wash on the banks
