I am in the process of comparing too blanks
The first is the American tackle Matrix F906 2 piece The second is the Pac Bay F906 2 piece Both are supposed to a moderate action. Any insight into which is a better blank. I wanted to use the Rainshadow IF906-2 but the rating states a med-fast action. I am going with these as the guy wants a 2 pc, moderate action green blank. Thanks for the help, Mike Re: Fly Blanks

Unless he has a specific reason why he says he wants a moderate action, the med-fast blank would be a more comfortable (and versital) rod to cast and fish. Re: Fly Blanks

These are very subjective terms which attempt to cover a broad range of flex with only 3 or 4 designations. I doubt you're going to find too much difference in the actions as they are all designed along the lines of what the public seems to prefer overall.
They're all good blanks. ............. Re: Fly Blanks

Mike,
If you have both blanks. Measure with calipers or micrometers the end diameters of both sections of both blanks. This will give 4 measurements for each blank. Include the construction material. ie IM-6, IM-7, IM-8 I can then apply a spreadsheet I made up to compare different blanks and how they will react as assembled rods. I'll determine the relative stiffness of both tip and butt sections seperate and assembled to describe some general trends in the blanks. If you have Excel or OpenOffice I can send you the spreadsheet and you can compare them yourself. Gene Re: Fly Blanks

I would also check the CCS Data site to see how they are ratted for the line he wants to use. Bill - willierods.com Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
