So I built my first rod with Micro Guides and the line touches the blank when it is slightly bent. The guide placement was accurate. Is this normal for micro guides? Are micro guides best suitable for a crankbait type rod or can it be used for a heavy action bass rod? I sure do appreciate the time you guys take to help out beginners like myself! Yes they are highly acceptable - both spiral and all on top.
All on top long throw - Line is riding in top of ring when lure is on outbound path - blank not loaded Line is riding in top of ring during retreival when tip is down for crank return - blank is actually reverse loaded Does it matter really when fish on - Line touch issue may take many detours - Click on this link and take a close at all the information on this thread - plenty reading! It shouldn't matter, a little touching ain't bad.
My spinning rods do have a little line slap on the cast but still out cast anything else out there. Re: Micro Guides and Line Touching the Blank??

If line touches when only "slightly bent" your guides are improperly spaced I'm afraid. Raymond Adams Eventually, all things merge, and a river runs through it.. Re: Micro Guides and Line Touching the Blank??

You stated, "The guide placement was accurate."
What do you mean by this? Re: Micro Guides and Line Touching the Blank??

How long is the rod and how many guides are you using? With the very small and low frame guides, you might have to use quite a few and even then you can't completely prevent the line touching the rod blank. Unless the line actually passes below the blank on a good flex, I'm not sure I'd worry about it too much.
