does any one have pictures illustrating proper and improper guide placement on a rod under load? spinning and casting?
I've read the descriptions but a picture or drawing would be very helpful thx Jay Re: pics of proper guide placement??

RodMaker Magazine has published more than a few.
You might look through the photo page here to see more. As long as the line follows the overall curve of the rod you're fine. .......... Re: pics of proper guide placement??

good point. I can see lots of examples here of it done right. Can anyone post pics of guides that are misplaced with an explanation of how they're wrong?
I do my load test (these are spinning rods) and adjust the guides but can't really tell if I'm making them better or worse. thx Jay Re: pics of proper guide placement??

If you find the line flows nicely between each pair of guides, but suddenly in-between one pair it seems too flat; out of place, etc., then you may need to adjust the spacing of those guides or add another guide.
In general, for most rods, if you'll use 1 guide per foot of rod length, plus 1, plus a tiptop, and use even marginally decent spacing, you're going to be okay. ............. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
