Ok so, I gave my first tiger wrap a shot. It turned out ok but I actually did it a different way than instructed (not on purpose), but still achieved the pattern. I follwed every step to the T however when I pulled out my sac. thread, the pattern was wery obscure and hard to see. So I took the thread off and thought maybe I did something wrong so I again wrapped it, warmed it, and pulled out the sac. thread once more. Still no picture perfect wrap. What was I doing wrong? I began to think that maybe the metallic lime green reflected too much light and decided to just undo the top wrap again and go get some thread that wasn't metallic and try it. When I took the top wrap off for a second time WHOA!. Due to the grooves in the epoxy, the moire effect had worked on the bottom two layers and actually created a very 3d moving tiger wrap( it almost hurts your eyes to try to focus on it too long). Has anyone else done this? I kind of want to wrap it again and try to get it right but it looks good now so I'm torn. Will the epoxy fill the gaps and take away the effect if I finish it as is? Just curious what the pros think about it. Thanks

I've done that before too... yes, if you put finish over the ridges, the effect will dissappear. Metallic works good on the bottom layer, but not nearly as well on the top layer.

I believe Bill Colby reported that same thing near the beginning of his article.
