Hi Guys, I have never built a rod with the SC3 inshore blank as it is pretty new. I have a customer who wants me to build him a rod on the 8' MH blank. He wants the lightest most sensitive rod for both Tog and 28"+ rockfish. Thing is, he plans on using a stradic 6000 on this blank. I am afraid that that may be overkill as the butt end is only .585. My other question is would he get more hook setting power out of the 7'6 MH? If anyone has used one of these blanks PLMK. Thanks guys. Re: St croix SC3 inshore blank

A longer rod will set the hook more effectively than a shorter rod. Sweep, speed and line movement are the keys in hooksetting.

Can't speak for the application, but I have an SCIII Inshore blank sitting on the lathe right now, and it's the 3rd SCIII Inshore I've built. Love the blanks! Straight as an arrow, and the finish is gorgeous. I throw nothing but 7'6" lengths from my kayak and have no problems with hook sets for inshore species.
