OLD RODS?

I've contracted a job the other day, and today the homeowner showed me a small antique matching set of PERFECT Beautiful spit bamboo rods made by SCHELTER. that belonged to his grandfather out in SanD Cali. He said maybe late 30's/40's

1 - 6' 2PC CASTING

1 - 99" 3PC Fly Rod in 33" sections

Both rods were in 1 soft cloth carrying case, sewn into lenghtwise so that each peice had their own compartment.

Reels were in original boxs with all paper work.
Casting reel By - Langley Cast-Rite, (on box it reads model #500) the reel says 380A, level wind with clicker. perfect condition.
He is hunting for the flyreel.

I have pics he sent to me and after I resize them I'll post.

Just wondering about collectability, Has anyone have any info on this beautiful set of rods.

Thanks Kenny.

If these are in good shape then you have some novel items. Not highly valuable, but a long, long way from flea market stuff. Generally the highest prices paid for bamboo rods go for those rods made by well known individual makers and small custom shops, not production type rods. But like I said, if the stuff is in good shape, it's novel and worth hanging onto.

As well Thanks Tom, have you heard of the name?.

SCHELTER , This is the logo/name on the rod in black lettering, is this a individual's name or Co? does anyone know? I posted the pic's under miscellanious. They are light of the rods,, But I'm going to get some better shots myself tomorrow. They look great.

I believe they are production rods made by a small company on the West Coast many years ago. I would date the rods as being from the 1940's but without better photos that's the best I can do. The componentry is usually a good means for dating rods.
