Has anyone done this? I tried a search but came up with nothing, I am soon going to build a 9' casting rod and was planning on using a split grip style small cork fore and rear grip with cork tape in center and wanted to Tru-oil the grips and maybe the tape as well, any thoughts?
Thanks, Rob Re: Tru-Oil on cork tape

It works well on cork rings and preformed grips, do not see any reason it won't on the cork tape. Re: Tru-Oil on cork tape

I would have a concern that it may pentrate the cork and mess up the glue. You may wan to try a patch first with the thin cork.

I hear what your saying Ed, but I don't think Tru-Oil penetrates that much, I have done several grips with it and it seams to be mainly a top coat rather than a penetration oil like tung oil, but I would try it on a scrap blank first though.

When I use cork tape I first prep the blank, then put using a paper towel on a thin coat of rod bond. Don't trust there glue. Bill - willierods.com Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
