Howdy
Has anyone had experience using the tagua nut in a grip for an imitation ivory look? I have found several sites that confirm that slices from this nut turn well on a lathe and are very durable. Considering using a few "slices" in a grip as accents. thanks as always Re: imitation ivory

It will work just fine, just keep in mind that when combined with other materials they all cut at different rates. So some type of sanding block or hard surface is needed to ensure that everything is taken down at the same rate.

Batson foam reel seat shims, when covered with a few coats of rod finish, look very much like ivory. Re: imitation ivory

Be very careful when using as a winding check, as the nut gets brittle once it gets so small. Otherwise it turns excellently!! Bill in WV Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
