27x NGC ... another question

Laying out my second NGC rod using the 27x method, had a quick question. I had a little trouble passing braid to flouro knot(20lb. braid 40-50 lb. flouro) on my first build and decided to go with an size 8 choke guide and run 8s all the way to the tip. anyone see any problem with this setup? Test cast showed it threw good but a pretty noticeable diff. than with the 6 choker.
Any thoughts?

If thats what it takes to pass the knot, then thats what you have to use. You can only go as small as what the knot will allow you.

don't just do as some one suggests. --- Test cast !!! ---- If you had test casted that rod you would have seen this and changed the guides.

Mike hit it on the head - your guides have to accommodate whatever knots or connections you plan to use. There's not much of a way around that.

Thanks for the replies, no better test than the test cast!
BTW the article on NGC is spot on! Moved only the stripper guide to acheive longest cast!!

What kind of knot did you use? I've been using the slim beauty and it is the smallest knot I have seen for braid to flouro.

Yep me too, sometimes that 40 and 50 Flouro crashesinto the tip and the 6's I had on the first build with NGC. Slight diff. in casting distance with the 8's but still waaaayyyyyy better than a standard non-NGC setup!
