Static alignment

I know there are not supposed to be any flat spots when static testing guide placement. I was just wanting to ask if this is acceptable before I wrap. [www.rodbuilding.org] Hopefully I set this link properly. Please let me know what you think. Any comments/suggestions are welcome.

You could set the 2nd and 3rd guides just a hair closer to each other, but what you have isn't going to result in any sort of problem.

I agree with Tom.
What you have will work just fine.
If you were very picky, you might consider adding one more guide and place all 4 of the first guides just a bit closer to each other. The new spacing would load the rod a bit more evenly, but what you have is certainly just fine.

Take care
Roger

Rule of thumb is one guide per foot of blank, plus one.

Does this include the tip or is it 1-foot +1 + tip.

It appears to me that the distance between guides 3 & 4 in static picture # 1 is less than the distance between guides 2 & 3 but it may be the way the picture is oriented. I always thought that the distance between the guides should increase as you start from the TIP with the first guide between 4” & 5 “ from the TIP. On a 7’ spinning rod that I built I have 7 guides + a TIP. I have only built about 7 rods so the experts on this board have a lot more knowledge on this than I do.

Just to start -- 7' rod 7-8 guides plus tip top. Then you static test like Tom says.
