Hallo,
I would like to ask how many roller guids I need for boat rods from 5´7",6´,6´4" and 6´8". I do not know nothing about guid placement for these rods. Thank you. Michal M.S.Handbuilt Custom Rods Re: how many Roller guids for boat rods

5. Email me specifics and I can help you out with spacing. I need to know blank numbers and desired species sought.

Michal,
Simply use the same number of guides for the roller guides that you would use for non roller guides. Essentially, you need a guide where the blank bends and enough guides to keep the line off the rod. Take care Roger Re: how many Roller guids for boat rods

Assuming you are talking about metal framed rollers vs the graphite model ALWR guides on roller rods tailored for line weight of, say 20 lb through unlimited, I recommend as a basic rule of thumb a minimum of 4 roller guides plus a roller tip for rods up to 4'6", and then add one for the first foot of length thereafter (i.e up to 5'6") then one for each 6 inches of length thereafter. So a 5'- 5'6" rod will have five rollers and a tip, and a 6 footer will have six, a s 1/2 footer will have 7, and so forth. Each of the incremental guides should be the smallest size for that series....
Note this is substantially fewer guides than commonly found for ringed rods of the same length and action. The key is line height. There are variants to this approach, but this is the rule of thumb I work with. Whit Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
