Ok I have my rod torn down re painted and ready to re assemble. I measured the tip of my rod and the I.D. of the old tip and came up with 10/64. I ordered my guides and they arrived yesterday. The tiptop does not fit. No biggy right just get a new tiptop right?
Well herein lies my dilemma. The running guides I purchased are 10's and the smallest tiptop I can find for a 12/64 is 12. Can I do this or do I have to change all of my guides to match? Re: Tip Top dilemma

You don't have to change all your guides. In fact, you may find that the height of the 12 ring in the tiptop actually matches the height of the guides better. It won't matter, much. You'll never notice it. The weight of a single size 12 tiptop would be less than the weight of moving to all size 12 running guides. Between the two options, I'd just stick with the size 12 tiptop.

I've built quite a few micro rods with 4 runners and a 6 top. It looks funky but I actually prefer it that way now. Re: Tip Top dilemma

Nuther idea is to use a single foot guide and wrap it on as a tip top. I don't even worry about correct size tube anymore. I just use a single foot guide and wrap it on. Re: Tip Top dilemma
