I have a customer looking for a 9'6" 10/11 wt fly rod, and I can't seem to find a blank to match his desire. I can find 10/ 8 wts, or 9' 12 wts, but no 9'6" blanks in the weight he wants. Anyone know of a source for this blank? He wants a fast action rod. Re: 9'6" 10 or 11 wt fly rod

A rod that long and that stout will be a bear for the fisherman to fight a fish with. Have you discussed these ramifications with your customer? I bet this is why none that stout are offered in such a long length. Re: 9'6" 10 or 11 wt fly rod

Fran,
I have just the blank for you. CTS Affinity-X, 4pc, 9'6" #9. The rod must be overlined to at least a #10. I have used a #11 on the rod and loads very well. The blank weighs 2 1/16 oz. Lists for $217. If you have to have a #10 CTS will build such an animal. The 9'6" #9 casts and fishes very well with a #10 line. The super fast Affinity-X line, which is a new blank for CTS in 2009, can easily be overlined. I use my 9', #10 as a #11 when needed. But, I use the Aff-X 9'6" #9 strictly as a #10. You can also look at spin and cast blanks. Bill - willierods.com Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
