Someone help me out here as I have been away from my rodbuilding since the great show in NC. I picked up some abalone sheets at the show and know that the application requires vinegar soaks, etc. I recently got a flyer from mudhole and in their educational section they showed applying the abalone sheets with a heat gun? I assume these are the synthetics and not the real abalone sheets? Does anyone know if the heat gun method truly works? I need a little help here............Thx! Re: Heat Abalone?

For others reading, I believe the different methods require a different form of abalone. The vinegar soak may work with either type, but I'm pretty sure the heat method requires a specific abalone product.
Kevin can certainly answer this. Mud Hole, too. ................. Re: Heat Abalone?

Altohugh I have not tried the vinegar, the heat and roll method has worked pretty well for me. Re: Heat Abalone?

I bought mine at Mudhole last week at their seminar. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
