Tom, After reading all these post and only subscribed to Rod Maker for just over a year now I am getting more intrigued on personal tools that so many of you talk about. There needs to be a place a custom Rod Builder could display his/hers specialized home made tool, jigs, fixtures and gadgets you just don't find in the local rod shop hanging on the shelf. Many woodworking media have a reader tips and tricks section. I just thought that might be an idea. I love seeing how others do the same job but in a different manner maybe even more productive. That is what my career is all about, taking a working method and using my experience and others to complete a task more efficiently and productively. Just a thought. Mark Schulte Reader Tips Column

RodMaker has such a section (Reader Tips) and is located near the back of each issue. It features tips and tricks which our readers send in for publication. On quite a few occasions it has featured specialty rod building tools which the readers have developed when they were not able to find a manufactured tool that would do what they needed done. I don't know how many back issues you have, but there have been quite a few useful tools, some with full plans, in many of the past issues. Only wish I could come upon more ideas for tools that we all still need. As someone who loves to buy, make and modify tools, I keep an eye open for any tool that might be useful in rod building and try to get them in the magazine as I come across them. Thanks for the suggestion. ................. Re: Reader Tips Column

My apologies to Tom and long time readers of Rod Maker. I guess I don't read hard enough. I picked up an issue after I posted and found what I was looking for. I have been so indulged in this board I forgot how I found this board (Rod Maker). If that makes since. Mark Schulte Re: Reader Tips Column

No need for apologies. The magazines are a great source of reference and can be read again and again which sometimes results in picking up some new info that you didn't gather the first time around. I have done this with many of my woodworking magazines. ................... Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
