What is the proper way to store a blank? What are some no nos?

Mark, I like to store them in the PVC tubes they are shipped in. You can pretty much lay them down, or stand them up at will. The tube protects them and you can write on the outside what blanks you have stored within.

Jason Brunner covered this in his recent article for RodMaker. If glass, never lean the blank or rod against a wall and keep from heat - even that of an attic or car interior in the summertime. Carbon fiber rods are much more hardy, but still try to stand them up as straight as possible, relieve all tension and keep from long periods of attic type heat.

Tom, I just lay my blank flat on the ground. Carbon fiber. Is that a problem? I figure that is zero tension on the blank. Just need to remember not to step on them....:)

Unless you step on them, you'll have no problems. Graphite rods and modern epoxy or thermoplastic resin systems don't have the tendency to take a set nor the "memory" of older glass and polyester resin systems.

Either store them flat or store them on a flat horizontal surface with full support on the blank so that there is no sagging. The floor works, as well as a good flat bottom box.
Basically, any way to store them so that the blanks remain straight.

Don't lean them against a wall, which would put a bend in the blank near the tip.
