I have just had a single coat of FlexCoat (high build) dry over two coats of Chromaseal. The result is a strange, uneven, milky marbelling on the surface of the dried FlexCoat.
Looks terrible and the whole lot will have to come off unless someone has a remedy. I thought of a second coat of FlexCoat but I think that would just seal the bumpy, milky suface under it. I have been hobby building for many years using many different products and never seen this effect. I let the Chromaseal dry overnight as per instructions on the bottle. Are the two products incompatible? Any other likely cause? Thanks, Greg Re: Chromaseal and Flexcoat

They are compatible. It is possible you have experience "amine blush" in the Flex Coat itself. This can happen under a rare but documented precise combination of CO2 and humidity. Neither by itself will case it.
Wait a day. Set the rod in a warm place. Try wiping the surface and see if the stuff tends to move or come off. If it does, you most likely have amine blush. Sometimes it improves with warmth and time. Otherwise, you may be in for a rewrap. ......... Re: Chromaseal and Flexcoat

Thanks Tom and James for the info.
I think I'll just bite the bullet, rewrap and hope it doesn't happen again. It being a rare occurrence I reckon I'd have to be pretty unlucky to have it happen again on the same rod. Cheers, Greg Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
