I recently came across some old trumpet guides for sale and I have never seen or heard of anything like these things. They were pretty cool looking so I was wondering why they seem to have gone the way of the dinosaurs. I heard from the seller that the guides used to be used on bamboo rods and such and I just wanted to know if anybody could give me the 411 on these things. I Edited 1 time(s). I'd assume it was removed becasue the post seemed like a SPam sandwich. Re: Trumpet Guides

You know the reason it was removed - we discussed it by email. Your advertisement for the @#$%& site was against the rules.
Such guides offer no practical advantage in today's fishing rod world. They are heavy and prone to grooving used with modern lines of almost any type. .............. Re: Trumpet Guides

I understand perfectly why it was removed, I just asked about the trumpet guides. The only thing I am slightly unsure on is why the pic was removed, but a standardized e-mail let me know possible reasons. I am very up to date on what I did wrong in the first post. Oh, I think I get it, when I said gone the way of the dinosaurs I meant why aren't they used any more not why was it removed from here.
I just want to know more about the trumpet guides. James Re: Trumpet Guides

They aren't used any more because they offer no advantages - they're heavy and they would groove under use from modern lines.

That makes perfect sense, guess I just got caught up in what I just thought looked like a pretty novel idea. Never really thought hard enough about it apparently. Exactly why I come to you guys. Thanks
