I just wanted to post a thanks to both of you for all the help you have both provided, both in quick and helpful responses, and your great articles. You two and everyone else here have greatly expanded both my thinking and my skills, and I really appreciate it.

I had a #9/10 IM-6 fly rod snap right above the ferrule. So I read the turorial on how to fix a rod properly. Because of the location, I couldn't do an internal and external splice, so I did an external only. Because of this, I used a fairly thick walled repair piece, and was worried about how it would flex. Well, long story short, the repair looks and works great, so far. I guess I'll find out on the first big redfish or striper I hook. I hope it holds up! If not, I'll just learn how to splice in a bigger section. :) Thanks again.

As a follow up, that rod is still going strong, 13 years later.
