Photo Suggestion

My hat is off to many of you and the beautiful work you do is obvious by the photos on this site's photo page. But.... for the lack of suitable backdrops many of those beautiful rods are presented in very poor fashion. It detracts from the rod to see it photographed on a car seat, dog bed, grandma's coat or a discolored picnic table top.

My suggestion is to go to your local craft store and spend about two dollars on a piece of "fun foam." These are about a foot or more square and come in all sorts of color. Then when you decide to photograph that new custom rod you will have something nice to use as a backdrop. Not to sound harsh but some of the beautiful rods you guys post really are not done justice by the crappy backdrops you use.

Richard,
I do agree that many photographs everywhere are spoiled by the photographer not considering the background of the subject.

Take care
Roger

No need to buy anything. Use a sheet, a solid color towel, etc. Gives an even background that can compliment or highlight the subject of the photo. Might be boring, but you can see the subject easier.

I like using the deck of my boat. The carpet is a solid color but still has a texture.

Any of those would be better than using an old dog bed for a background.
