hi guys - just a quick question - what kind of cork reamer would work with these cork rings? Re: burl cork rings

I would use a Batson reamer or course round files Good Wraps Bob Re: burl cork rings

The Swampland reamers sold by Mud Hole will do a great job. Re: burl cork rings

I used reamers that I made myself from the reamer grit that mud hole sells and for just about 5$ you get enough grit to make like 10 reamers. They have worked on everything I have tried and they cut very nice.

The only problem with using grit is that pieces of it can dislodge and stick inside the grip that you are reaming. Can make for some real nice scratches on a blank when you slide the grip down it. I would use the strips instead of loose grit to make reamers [www.mudhole.com] Mike (Southgate, MI) If I don't want to, I don't have to and nobody can make me (except my wife) cuz I'm RETIRED!! I stopped using grit 20 years ago after ruining a few rods. I now use round files and the Batson reamer Good Wraps Bob Re: burl cork rings

I too have scratched a rod or two with the grit. I still use it on burl cork but I stop short of the diameter I need and finish off with a dream reamer. This cleans out any grit which may be inside the cork.

Ron,
For all of the cork, regular, burl or mixed - I use a round tapered file and if necessary, a drill bit of the appropriate size. Take care Roger Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
