Can the heat that appears while quick epoxy cures hurt the blank?

Hi,
I usually use slow curing 2 comp epoxy to install the reelseat and grips. I recently tried a 5 min two comp epoxy and realized it developed quite a lot of heat. Will this heat, wich is almost too hot to grab on while curing, hurt the blank? Max Re: Can the heat that appears while quick epoxy cures hurt the blank?

Unless the temperature on that stuff reaches up into the 200+F range, it's not likely to harm your blank. I don't think you have anything to worry about.

Considering some of the factories use what looks like a small butane torch when building their finished rods, I doubt the heat from a 2 part epoxy could be a problem. Re: Can the heat that appears while quick epoxy cures hurt the blank?

I am assuming the heat you describe is comming from the container the epoxy is mixed in. Remeber, that mixture is in bulk and the reaction is more intense when the mixture is in mass than when spread out over a larger area. The amount of epoxy spread over the threaded guide area is very small compared to what is left in the mixing container. The thread and the rod blank will dissipate the heat genetated by the cure cycle without any danger to the blank.
