Hello all:
I have a friend who wants me to build him a surf rod camparable to an Ugly Stick with out the bulk or weight. Is there a blank that I can get him without a heavy price tag. He's looking for a blank with enough back bone to handle blue fish and stripers in New York. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. Fernando Torres-NERB Re: Surf Blank

Fernando, for tossing bait or plugs, ocean or bays, and what types of weights, and what price range. There's lots of rods that will handle bass and blues. Re: Surf Blank

$100 won't cover the cost of shipping, loll. Re: Surf Blank

If it's a 1-piece blank Billy's right - you can eat up $50 to $100 in shipping charges alone. Just make sure to figure that into your price quote.

don't kill me for saying this, but at that price range go buy a TICA surf UEHA model surf rod off the shelf. The tica USGA series rods a slightly better but at least for me not worth the extra money.
Ocean Master rods are also very good and right in that price range, however they are usually geared towards higher weights. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
