I have built myself a few surf rods on some Amtack graphite composite blanks I got at Mudhole a few years ago, and I really like the way they perform, but on the 9 footer, I am noticing some rust marks at the guide feet. I built it with Fuji Hardloy guides.
I am going to be building an 8' surf rod for a customer, and I do not want the same thing to happen to his guide feet. I would appreciate some recommendations for guides that will stand up to the surf environment a little better. Re: Surf Rod Guides

all metals rusts eventually, if you want a metal to last forever without rusting get titaniums. Re: Surf Rod Guides

That's it... Titaniums are the only ones that won't rust. Chrome plated stainless might be next in line. Re: Surf Rod Guides

Fuji Stainless Steel Carbide... I've had mine for over 10yrs and still no rust. I have the RSG models but the others will work just as good, a bit more costly but for the longhaul these are it!!!!!!! Rod, Reels and 18 wheels. Re: Surf Rod Guides

Did you grind the guide feet? If you did you removed the protective coating. Titanium are the only guides that are guaranteed not to rust over time. Our SS outlasts Fuji by a wide margin as proven in our testing but I cannot claim they will never rust. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
