Hello, I'm fairly new to rod building especially with foam handles. I've built three fly rod with cork handles and those turned out great ( maybe not as good to the builders eyes) Anyways i put on the rear handle and then the real seat, I had some excess epoxy that gotten between the reel seat and the rear grip. upon trying to clean this excess up, i noticed a couple of spots where the foam has pitted or minor sized chunks missing. Is there a ways to fix it? Please help me in this matter, What should i do? Re: EVA Foam Handles

Chris,
If these are only minor size chunks, would it be possible to even out the handle by sanding the handle down to the bottom of the chunks. That would leave you with a smooth handle. If the handle is a touch large and the size reduction wouldn't hurt the grip, it might be a good way to fix the issue. Of course, you could always tear off the old - new grip - smooth down the blank and put another grip on the blank. This might actually turn out the best. Another grip is only a few dollars. Take care Roger Re: EVA Foam Handles

Roger,
Thanks for the tip. I do feel that a low grit sand paper will do the trick. I will give that a try. Once again thank you for the tip Re: EVA Foam Handles

240 to 320 grit seems to work the best for "final finishing" go careful through I find that these grits cut faster than 120 grit
Dont bother going up higher than 320 you just end up "glossing "the grip which is no good Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
