Anyone who has used Batson's RX6 fly blanks care to share their opinions on the blanks? Re: Batson RX6 Fly Blanks

Just built F662-4 6-6 2wt 4pc, fished it sunday in a small wild stream near Grandfather's Mtn. performed great. Easily cast 35 feet no problem, though most cast average around 15-20 ft on a small brookie stream like that. I have it overlined w/ 4DT right now but have some Rio 3wt DT in route, and I think performance will improve for dry fly fishing. This is the only foreast blank so far but will not be the last.

I've built on lots of them, ranging from 4wt to 8 wt in both 2 and 4 piece and have had great success with them. Absolutely no complaints, great bang for your buck.

Hi, Lane
I have built a couple on the RX6 and have no complaints, had a customer pick one over a RX7 ,personally I like the RX7 better they are a little faster. Either one will give you a great rod at a great price. Shop the different suppliers prices do vary. Mike Mikes Custom Fly Rods Re: Batson RX6 Fly Blanks

I've built 2 fly rods using the forecast blanks. Both were disappointing.
Fast tip, weak butt produced a very slow rod that felt clubby and heavy. Both did cast their rated line but felt like a value blank. IMO use the higher end blanks. Re: Batson RX6 Fly Blanks

I've built on a couple of RX-6's, both the newer dark blue and the older emerald green ones. I personally like the older ones better for a dry fly rod. For all round use I'd step up to the RX-7's in the 4 piece configuration, they seem to fit my casting style better and I like the faster action of them. Re: Batson RX6 Fly Blanks

forecast was the older name, batson now calls them RX6, a seemingly much improved blank in color and quality than the older forecasts. in my experience, though they are made from somewhat less-high-tech materials than the higher priced premium blanks out there, they make excellent fly rods. i have only wrapped the 7'-9' 2-piece 3wt, the 7'-6" 4 piece 4wt and the 8' 3 piece 4wt. the first two are great fun for me to fish and my 9 year old daughter rolls casts her 7-6 like a dream.

I've built a number of them in the 2-3-4-5 weight range. The RX6 represents one of the best values you can find in the lighter line sizes. I think the 6'6' 2 weight and 7'9" 3 weight might be the most popular models. Because they're standard graphite, the blanks designed for the heavier line weights don't seem to be as popular as some of the lighter weight graphites that are available. Re: Batson RX6 Fly Blanks

I also like these blanks in the lighter line weights, especially the 4pc 7ft6 4wt and 2pc 7ft6 3wt. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
