What an afernoon! Come home from work, finished wrapping the guides on what was going to be my last rod for a while so I could focus on fishing and mushroon hunting. Then I decided to go ahead and put the finish on. When I was almost complete I realized I had never aligned the guides. So I aligned the guides with wet finish on them. Everything semed to be Ok. I was turning every so often by hand admiring how well things were looking. After about 1 1/2 hrs I decided to raise the rod and look at the guide alignment again. When I set the darn thing back down I placed the finish right into the crotch of my wrapper...what a mess!!. I put the rod in the rod turner for now. Everything looks pretty good except for that one spot. How do I fix this?...I think the AADD has set in on me.

If the finish is not too well set, wipe it off with a finger. Leave just the thinnest possible amount of epoxy on there. Come back tomorrow and re-coat that guide wrap.

Morel mushroons, they start popping up in the spring when the leaves on Oak trees are the size of squirrels ears. They are just wild mushroons. Roll them in cracker crumbs or flour and fry in butter. Boy are they good and even better if you have a mess of crappies to go with them. There is about 2 weeks in the spring when they appear, then you have to wait till next year to get em again. Luckily my son in law has provided me a couple of messes this year.

Hey you can't beat a Good Chantrail and eggs. The hardest thing about this type of hunting is you do a lot of it on your knees. Then after you spot one you have to sneak up behind the and grab the critter by the neck and squeeze tight. If it moves you just caught a snake LOL

I am a farm boy what do you think. The hardest thing about Snip Hunting is teaching those city Slickers how to hold the bag close to the ground and calling in a low strong voice (here snip, here snip, here snip. Those city guys jut don't have the spunk or endurance. They can't make it over 15 minutes. I keep telling them to crouch low and chip. If you are an experienced Sniper caller you know some time it takes awhile for a newbie to ketch on. It takes the average beginner at least a hour to see what's going on.

Been on a LOT of snipe hunts. Only once was I NOT the guide! LOL!

As far as the original question goes, Steven, once the epoxy is set, just use sandpaper or an emery board to work it down, clean it well, then re-coat.

Steve you might try taking a razor blabe, hold it 90% to the finish and lightly scrape the finish tell it is smooth. Becarefule and do not cut the treads. When smooth refinish
