Fuji Concept setup for 5' UL rod

I have a 5' UL rod blank and want to use Fuji Alconite concept guides on it. What is the best way to setup the guides on the rod? I am making the rod for a friend and do not have his reel to put on the rod. Can i setup the guides accurately without the reel? Thanks

Sure,
Put the first size 25 guide at 20 inches from the reel seat.
Put the tip guide at 4 1/2 inches down from the tip.
Space the other guides in between to properly load the rod. i.e. closer together at the tip, and further away at the butt.

something like - \
4 1/2 - 5 - 6 -7- 10 -12 -- If you need the 6 guides, with a fairly soft tip and fast action.
If the action is slower, you can leave off one guide and space the guides out a bit.

Good luck
Roger

If you will go into the online library here, you can read the article on the New Guide Concept. Do everything it says, except to find your choker guide location multiply the spool diameter by 27 and then use that distance, from the face of the spool, to locate the choker. Everything else can be set up as the article describes. This system will give you better distance, better balance and better all around performance than any other spinning guide set up.

Do what Tom says. I have a 5'4" UL set up NGC and I used BYAG20, BYAG10 and BLAG4s out to the tip.

I rebuilt my old trout rod back in Feb. It was a factory rod that is 4'8" and 15 years old!!! I used the NGC and 27X (choker) and it casts so much farther! I keep getting snagged in the brush because it throws much farther than it used to! I pretty much used the same setup as Mr. Martin.
