You have probably seen the infomercial for the magic pen that fills in scraches on car paint, well I can tell you that it works as well on automotive clear coat as it does on rod finish! Ever scratch a new rod blank or one of your finished rods? Put this stuff on it and it fills in the clear coat and you no longer see the wound! I've been using it to get rid of scarring when I strip off guides and reposition them in the case of a rebuild. Yes, permagloss works also but it can leave a raised finish. Plus, the applicator pen is much more convenient to use. The product dries with UV light so just stick it in the sun. I got mine at CVS pharmacy for under $10. Re: Billy Mays rod repair tool

Does it work regardless of color? Suppose the scratch has white streaks? Re: Billy Mays rod repair tool

it is clear so you will have to take the white scratch marks out first. I have done that with a tiny piece of scotch brite or use black permanent marker, just color the scratch with the marker and then wipe off. The marker will stick to the white and the rest will wipe off. Plus, black sharpie marker is purple in sunlight so it is best to wipe first. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
