I have a co-worker looking for a very fast action 2 wt.,2 piece, 7.5' to 8.5' rod. He wants me to use a high end blank so cost isn't an issue. Any suggestions? Re: Fly blank help!

Batsons makes that rod in a 2pc med-fast but it is a 3wt in the RX7 Graphite. If you want a 2wt you will have to go 6'6 or so. Matt White Re: Fly blank help!

Burkheimer. He'll love it. Fairly rated and easy to cast. Sweet. Re: Fly blank help!

I am not sure if it is still available but I have built two rods on the Winston WT 7' 2 piece 2 wt blanks. They are are two best casting fly rods I have ever used. Re: Fly blank help!

Winston is excellent.
Sage is very good. But if you want top of the line try the Thomas and Thomas. Re: Fly blank help!

i don't think any of these rods in the size you want fall in the "very fast action" category, especially not the winston WT. i could be wrong though.

The WT may not have a super fast action in the true sense of the word but sometimes people use that as a way of describing power and casting ability. That 7' 2 wt is sooo smooth yet with a decent weight forward line it will cast dry flys 50' without even thinking about it. Believe it or not but I actually nymph with the one I built for myself now and then. Mending is a little tough because of the short length but getting the rig out into the run is not an issue as long as the strike indicator and weights are not gigantic.
I have owned and built on several different Sages, Dan Crafts (very nice for the $), the Orvis T3, and the BIIx Winston and those 7' 2 piece 2wt WT are the best rods I have ever used. Note that those rods were built a good 5 years ago. Things may have changed since then. Re: Fly blank help!

If cost is not an issue, try looking into a Gatti FRLW 2wt. Great casting/fishing rod and he will be the only one on the block with one. Gatti USA has them listed. Mudhole does not have this rod listed, but maybe they can order a blank for you.
