Wahoo Wireline Rod

I am looking to building a couple of bent butt wireline rods that are going to be used for high (or semi high) speed trolling.

For reels I have a couple of Penn 114h and plan on filling them with 65lb monel.

I will be trolling 1-2lb cigar weights with a length of mono and a heavy bullet head lure with a 3' wire leader.

My questions:

I will definitely be using an Aftco swivel tip, but how critical are the other guides. Can I get away with Silicone Nitride guides or are roller guides optimal? What roller guides come suggested?

I would think that a solid fiberglass blank with a slow action is the ideal blank, but what length? Suggested blanks?

Thanks

Johnny

I've built 2 wireline/planer rods for my own use -

1 with a seeker stubbie 50 and all bigfoot rollers, aftco swivel tip
the second is a seeker stubbie 80 with 3 SIC Turbo Guides and an aftco swivel tip

I find that I use the roller rod more for high speed trolling, and the Turbo rod more for planer functions.

The turbos seem to be better for windon applications (bridled Planer)
