I used to use the Loomis "L" series blanks for this. Not sure what else is similar, but it doesn't have to be anything special. I like a faster action. Even a Hot Shot rod can work well for this. What length are you looking at?

The Montauk bunch are loyal to lamiglas for the most part. GSB series is a favorite. You don't need an 11' rod for this, I use an All Star 1266 which isn't made any more but, Talon makes some great blanks I have tried. The B129 or 127 which are 10'6 and 2 pc . I would use the explorer series which is standard modulus graphite.
Might want to look at batsons new SUR line to. I checked them out at the show and they seem pretty nice. Just check with Batson on the ratings for them since I think they are a little off.11 ft is really over kill I would stick with 10 or 10'6". Lots of rocks to fall on up there! Barry,
Diamondback makes some great blanks that are a perfect match for pitching bucktails. Check them out. For their power, they have some of the lightest and strongest blanks on the market. They are a favorite for those in the midwest who fish for Muskies and cast bucktails hour after hour. Take care Roger Re: blank for throwing Bucktails

Are we talking muskie bucktail spinners or bucktail type jigs??
For a muskie rod, 11' is way more than needed, by several feet. Re: blank for throwing Bucktails

I'm building one soon for a similar reason, snook & tarpon here on Florida's east coast beaches and jetty's. Looking at a 9' 1/2 - 2 1/2 oz rating blank. This combo should cast far enough & have the back bone to pull them in. Good luck! Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
