Castaway Big Show XP3

Was checking out this blank on the Swampland site, with thoughts of a spring muskie rod for smaller muskie baits.

Two questions, how soft is the tip section, and is it really only $35.00?

Thanks,
Marc

I picked up one at the Rod Expo & made it into a spinning flipping stick for a buddy of mine. He is using it for bass fishing in reeds, etc. here in Fl. It has alot of backbone but a fast tip. I would think it would be really good for Muskie fishing & casting smaller baits & maybe even some larger baits.

Marc - they add some shipping charges to that, but their shipping is VERY reasonable.

Marc,

You may want to give them a call. My notes on the blank I built indicated it was XH/Fast not XH/Mod as shown on their web site.

The Castaway Big Show blank is a fast action blank. The description on the website is wrong. It was originally built as a flipping stick for fishing heavy grass and cover. We have found other uses for it as well. I've built Tarpon rods, and kingfish rods out of them and a customer of mine has built two of them as spinning rods for throwing topwater poppers at blackfin tuna. 35.00 is a great price for this blank and they went over very well at the show in High Point this year. I only have about 50 of these left and they may not be available at this price again.
