How do I get a matte/flat finish with Flex-Coat?

I have heard that you can cut a 2-part epoxy rod wrapping finish (Flex-Coat, U40, etc.) to get a matte or flat finish rather than a high gloss finish...

Anyone know how to do it?

Do not change the percentages of the two components or add solvents trying to achieve matte surfaces upon curing. It is rumored there is currently work ongoing at Flexcoat to deliver a matte finish for thread coatings. Roger / John is the cat almost out of the bag? I am creating the matte by deglossing the cured finish by wet sanding with a 1200 wet sanding pad used by automotive painters for surface deglossing. Petit Paint company provided a matte surface two part epoxy paint years ago for model airplane builders that utilized fine white powder in the mix. Only the colors were available in matte and the clear was only high gloss.

My answer to this question, when I have been asked to take the gloss off a rod, is to use 00 steel wool.
Metho or turps as a lubricant.

Works very well. Cheap and quick.

I would never add any thing to a resin. There are enough problems to deal with on the resin subject, without adding more.

Paul.

I fish therefore I am.

to Allen,

That is my next option, quite frankly. Thanks for confirming what I was leaning towards!

PermaGloss is very high gloss. It's the "shiniest" wrap finish going. I doubt it will be what you want.

It has a slight eggshell appearance but it's not a matte type finish by any means. It's crystal clear, like water, and very bright and shiny.

I understand - 2 people separated by a common language.

PermaGloss has a surface that is slightly rippled, hence the "eggshell" term. But it is quite clear and glossy bright.

LOL maybe we should "invent" an international rod building langusge then then wouldn`t be any confusion
Mind you saying that when you talk with billy and your half asleep it seems like he talks riddles ( in out up down +1 - 2 band 4 etc ) then you wake up and it all makes sense
