ok,i got the titanium ?out of the way,and thanks for all the help on that one.now for another one.i just finished building 2 rods almost identical.i used orange and black thread, high school colors.this was done on a drk blue blank.i figured that the drk blank would bleed through on the orange,so i applied a coat of cp to the threads.let set over night and started to finish with high build epoxy.the guide wraps started showing a few black streaks or discolored streaks.doesn't look too bad though but does not look bright and shiny.with this being said,i put another coat of cp on the remaining rod and put aside to let dry.the thread was ncp size a.do ya'll think this will fix the problem?what do you think happened to the first rod.do not want to make the same mistake on the second rod.thanks,jim. You didn't pack the threads against each other well enough. The "streaks" are minute gaps between thread strands. CP won't fix it.
Look at it under magnification and I think you'll see what I'm talking about. ............. Re: faded thread

If you can get yourself a magnifier lamp. It makes that A thread look like rope.
Like Tom said pack tight, I do it every 5-8 turns. Then at least two coats of CP with an hour in between. Bill - willierods.com Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
