puzzleOk guys get your thinking caps on.
On the tip of my latest rod I need a fluro tip, What I want is a "fade" between yellow and orange, Do I wrap it as a normal fade (IE 12y 1o 11y 2o 9y 3o etc) or is there an easier way (cos i aint very good at single bands with both threads still attatced to spool this has got to be 6 inches long and i really wanted half and half but not with a definate block colour change in the centre OR would it be better to simply cross wrap it and fade it that way as in a butt Dont want to just do it because of the price of the threads Cheers allen Edited 2 time(s). Not sure I understand - thread is super inexpensive.
Only other option might be to use paint in some fashion. ............ Re: colour change puzzle

Allen, this method will give you a transition between the two colors, basically giving you 3-2" bands with the center a combination of the two main colors. Wrap almost 2" of your first color starting from either the tip, or at 6" marked from the tip. add in the other color and lock down the tag end of the second color, and finish the 2" of the first color. Then, wrap the 2 thread colors together side by side until you have 2" of both colors wrapped together. now wrap the second color over the tag end of the first to lock it and trim first color off and finish with the second color for 2". This will give you a nice transition between the colors in the center giving you three bands instead of just the two colors against each other in the center. The 2 different threads wrapped together side by side usually gives a really nice blend of the two colors that is hard to tell it's not it's own color without looking really closely. I hope this made sense. Greg Re: colour change puzzle

Normally tom I would have to agree.
BUT this stuff was a special order and I got stung for all the P=P on three spools of fluresent (says on the pack GLOINTHEDARK so I can sort of understand it ) Cost me the equilalent of $10 a spool (and only 100 yards at that) Hence i dont want to "waste it" but to clarify the problem fade from yellow to orange as seamlessly as possible in the easiest form for a rod tip Re: colour change puzzle

Okay, here's what I would do. Start with the yellow and wrap a bit, then put in the orange and wrap both colors simultainiously for a bit, then drop the yellow and continue wrapping the orange for a bit. That's all you have to do.
