I know this has been beat to death, but still not sure, I am going to build my first standup rod and going to put a underwrap under the guides with size A thread. The factory rods I have look like the underwrap is finished and then the guides are added and then the guides are finished, If you dont do it this way and finish underwrap and guides at the same time how do you get the finish right in between the guide legs, thanks for any help scotty. I havent built any stand up rods, but on my larger surf rods I use underwraps. I take the end of a brush or sometimes a tooth pick and get a little epoxy on it and drop it under the feet. Does that make sense? Re: under wrap finish question

I do few double foot guides but I do put a coat of finish on them. If you have it on a drying motor you could always stop the motor and run your brush under the guide then turn it back on. Re: under wrap finish question

You can do it either way. There is nothing wrong with a thin coat of finish on the underwrap first, and then overwrapping the guide on top of that.
