Looking for a little guidance on these... I do realize that this is a nearly impossible question to answer with certainty so I'm just asking for your honest opinions.
From the description (pasted below if you haven't read it) they would seem to be rated maybe 2 weights under the actual power. I'm wanting to build myself a 9 wt, but think I need to order the 8 wt blank. There was only 2 CCS samples but they were inconsistent. Any of you have experience with them? "Weights 5-8 are designed to present flies at distant targets. Weights 9-12 have the power to launch larger flies and to lift an angry fish out of the depths. The reserve power in the TiCr X Series give these blanks the ability to carry a lot of line in the air and can easily be over lined for close-in work." Thanks, Keith Re: TFO TiCr X blanks

What they're saying is that the line ratings they put on the rods are intended for use at longer ranges - if you intend to fish closer in, you'll need to upline by 1, or perhaps 2 line weights. This is the actual power, as far as the TFO designers are concerned for the distances they specify. It's nice that they not only provide the line weight number, but the distances they were intended to be used at. All fly rod manufacturers could take a lesson from this, or adopt the CCS. That would give them a universal power rating and then they wouldn't have to bother with line weights and distances intended.

Gotcha. That's just about what I thought when I read through all their info on the website. I was just not sure if one wt less was the right number.
