Has anyone heard of putting Pliobond underneath guide feet on a fly rod. They person that brough it to my attention was told it would prevent the guide from "wearing/scratching" the blank during normal use. My thoughts are that properly prepared guide feet will prevent undue wear. Anyone care to weigh in? Re: Pliobond under guide feet

Your thoughts are on the money. A guide that has been properly prepared will not harm the rod blank. It should be smooth and free from burrs, and should sit flat on the blank's surface.

Don,
To help that guide prep a bit, it is not a bad idea to have some 150 or 200 grit paper wrapped on a 3/8th or so - dowel. Just go over each guide on the paper on the dowel to insure that there is no burr or rough spot on the under side of the guide. The dowel will give a round shape which will more closely match the contour of the blank. Take care Roger Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
