Loop to Loop Connectors and Fly Guide Size Question

With all the loop to loop connectors now factory installed on fly lines I'm finding I have to move up in guide size to let these buggers pass. I just tested a fly rod (8'-6" 4 wt.) with Fuji LSG 6's at the tip section and found I had to force the loop to loop connector through the guides. It wasn't easy; infact I can't use them. I taped on a set of 7's and had no problems. I want to stay with the Fuji guides, don't want to use snakes or single foot wire guides, so I'll use the 7's. When testing with the 7's I didn't really feel any appreciable difference over the 6's. So is this really even a concern going up, or down one size in guides? I am ticked about all the factory installed loop to loop connectors, but that's what people are buying and they rightly expect their fly lines to pass through the guides without getting hung up. cutting off the loop doesn't seem to be an option when someone has paid $60.00 or more for the line. I'm kind of venting here so foregive me. Your comments appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

7's on a 4 wt ????

The only thing I can think of is, if your knots are smaller, cut that factory loop off and put your own on.
I do loop to loop, but I put a loop of say 20 lb test mono on the end of the line. Have not tried braid.

I've got LSG6's on a 5wt that passes factory loops no problem. In fact, I have a 4wt with #5's that takes the loop on Rio Grand (4-1/2wt) no problem. Terry Henson's been using LSG5's & 6's on 4 & 5wts without issue.

You may just have a line with a larger loop than normal.

I tie my mono on with a nail knot then make a loop. Then I can go loop to loop with my leader.

I went back and checked the loop on the fly line and it's bigger than it needs to be. I wonder if the same loop is used on all line weights? This loop is just too big for a 4 weight line. I'm going to cut it off and nail knot a mono loop to the end and put a small perfection loop in the end of the leader. That should pass the LSG 6's just fine. I'll also check the loops on new fly lines from now on.

Thanks for the help here.

John
