I need some help with the NGC. I'm a starting rodbuilder and I have only completed my first rod which I had good results with. I like the NGC system. My second rod is a request for a short ( 5' ) rod. With my first rod, which was ( 6' ), I used 8mm guides from the choke guide to the tiptop. On my 5' rod I found out that the 8mm tiptop does not fit well on the rod tip. I have a 6mm tiptop that I recently purchased that fits perfectly. Now I wonder, will I need 6mm guides from the choke guide to the tiptop, or will the 8mm guides still work? I have not started rod construction yet and I know there will be numerous test casts with my guide setups but I am interested in any help available! Thanks!

It will certainly work, but my suggestion is to either get the same sized tiptop or the same sized running guides.
