Chuck had the Same problem with that chuck on my wrapper, kept dropping blanks. Also tried to remove the set screw NO JOY. Took it off and sold it replaced it with a 2 1/2" 3 jaw machinist chuck no problems!
Talked to the people at the pac-bay booth in highpoint, told them of the problems they acted shocked. They say they have never heard a complaint about the "improved Chuck" Go Figure! Re: Used clemens or renzetti?

Leveling the rod will definitely help. If it is not level it will not run true and wobble itself out. Also when in the drying mode grab the pulley to reverse the motor to have it turning towards you. Freddwhy (Rapt-Ryte) Re: Used clemens or renzetti?

Keeping the rod dead level with the chuck center line will help tremendously and
it also helps not to have the upper wheel on the supports adjusted down to tightly. Raymond Adams Eventually, all things merge, and a river runs through it.. Re: Used clemens or renzetti?

Barry,
Often, in set screws and other locking devices, lock tite is used during assembly. Locktite makes disassembly tough or impossible without the use of heat. If you have an issue getting it apart, heat the part holding the setscrew with a heat gun or torch. I would expect that if lock tite is the issue, heat will aid in the reomoval of the setscrew. Take care Roger Re: Used clemens or renzetti?

Hi,
I am sure Pac bay will take care of the problem. I have owned several Clemens over the years and the chucks are great. Yes, blanks will back out because it is ot a straight piece we install in the chuck. For many years I have been wrapping a rubber band around the end of the butt before installing the butt in the chuck. Blanks do not slide out on me and I do not have the over tighten the chuck. Pac Bay, Amtack, same difference. I have a PacBay with the original chuck, and I do not have any problems. I make sure my rod is level, and I make sure the rod is turning clockwise. This is opposite of the way you turn the tightening wing. That way, it doesn't come loose. I do have the Pac Bay dryer, and it is basically the same chuck, but I have experienced an occasional problem with a tapered vinyl butt cap slipping out of the chuck. I have had to break out the masking tape for that job. Re: Used clemens or renzetti?

I've had the chuck get loose. Seems to happen mostly with the drying motor when it is turning counter clockwise when looking at the chuck. Also when I unhook the belt to pull a sacraficial thread on a tiger wrap and spin the rod counter clockwise it will come loose at least twice during the process. To guard against it I've gone to wrapping double stick tape around the butt end. Pain to get out later but it works. Thank you whoever you are WWW.WeSeekHerRods.com Re: Used clemens or renzetti?

Thanks for all the help guys, Pac bay has offered to send me another chuck to replace mine. They were very helpful and I hope that this doesnt discourage anyone from purchasing anything from them. On a brighter note. I actually found me a clemens lathe and will have it shortly.again thanks for everyones help.
