A rod I had just built got broken. It has a fuji graphite seat on it. Once I remove the cork, is there any way to remove the seat and reuse it, or is it even worth the few $ it costs. I am not worried about damaging the blank, just salvaging the seat. Anything I can do with the cork grip? or just cut off and throw away? Re: Salvaging a reel seat

Hi Elrod, Sorry to see this happen. The cork is shot so jut cut the rod at both ends of the seat and drill/bore the seat out.You didn't indicate whether it is a standard tubular or blank exposed type so I will assume it isn't the latter. In all honesty though, spend the money for a new one.Best in the long run,IMHO. Re: Salvaging a reel seat

Might could cut the blank as close as possible to the seat and then bore it out with a forstner(sp?) bit close, if not, to the same i.d. of the seat. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
