Ok, I'm getting ready to build a rod on a Lamiglass IFW780-ul. I'm wanting to make it up really nice and I've thought about customizing the reel seat and the the grips. I've noticed that you can order wood inserts that go with skeleton parts. I have no clue as to what I'm looking for with something like this. How do you put these type of reel seats together? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

There is certainly something in angling that tends to produce a serenity of the mind

If you order one of these seats, you will get a threaded section with the locking nut and hood, and just the fixed hood section, and then the wood body. Follow standard bonding procedures of scuff all surfaces to be glued, apply a very thin layer of glue to the wood body, and glue in side the skeleton reel seat parts and assemble. Try to minimize excess glue, as it will save you clean up. Align the reel seat hoods by eye.

Install the longer threaded section first, as it will hold itself in place pretty good while you install the shorter fixed hood, which will move pretty easy.

I highly recomend Rod Bond or Ultimate Gel for this kind of work, much easier than liquids.

Also, check the fit of all parts before you get started so you have an idea of how snug everything will be during assembly.

To expand a little on Marc's awesome instructions. Being a newbie you may want to use an old spinning reel to line up your hoods for a perfect fit. But eyeballing will get you very close.
