I have built several micro guide spinning rods now and i keep getting requests for more. For the smaller lines i am able to get away with 16 and 20's as a stripper, just bring it closer to the reelseat than standard 27x.
I got 4 of those new Fuji VSS and noticed that the new VSS seat is real easy to cut away at and instead of mounting it parallel to the blank, I got to think maybe shim it to increas the reel angle to about 10 or more degrees. Anybody ever do this with reel seats and does it give you better casting distance? Angle the seat towards the rod a little i mean and choke the line coming off fast ( at maybe 10x?) then run it out an as small/light as practical guides. Re: Micros and Fuji VSS reel seat angles

I don't think the reel angle will make much difference. That is why we use the 27X method instead of edge of table method with the reel installed aligned with the table edge. My understanding is the way the line comes off a spinning reel and the effects of gravity on the line basically negates reel angle. Re: Micros and Fuji VSS reel seat angles

The stripping guide would not be located by the 27X method. You may be confusing that with the choker guide, which is something altogether different.
Angling the seat, which I've tried, usually results in the bail/line roller slamming your fingers as it revolves. ................. Re: Micros and Fuji VSS reel seat angles
